Jean Haslam

Jean was born in Kearsley in 1923,the only daughter of Raymond and Dora (nee Wedgwood). She was always proud of her Wedgwood ancestry. Jean married Dennis in 1948,and was the cherished mother of Catherine and Doreen. Doreen married Graham in 1985, and became the proud parents of Keeley in 1997. Jean was a devoted grandma. She loved her extended family. Jean had many interests and adventures. She was a teacher, concluding her career as deputy headteacher at the Royal Manchester Children’s hospital. After her retirement she actively volunteered - for example with the Citizen’s advice Bureau and adult literacy. She loved sewing and crafts. Jean travelled widely, including Russia, European cruises, Lapland and even the Great Wall of China.  Jean was a lifelong member of Kearsley Mount Methodist church, and her faith was a defining feature of her life. She was involved in all aspects of church life, especially its music.
