Maria was the loving Wife of Nic, wonderful Mother to Ruby, devoted daughter of Patricia and a loyal friend to many.
Maria passed away peacefully holding our hands on the morning of Monday the 9th of April 2018, in Bury Hospice. Although she was diagnosed with Metastatic Breast Cancer in 2017, she didn’t think about death as she was too busy living (always with a big glass of lemonade by her side.)
Maria often filled the room with laughter due to her natural, incredible sense of humour, be it at home, work, with her patients or in a room full of strangers. She was truly a one in a million, the brightest light in our lives, our shining star.
Mum was our best friend and will be missed dearly, for the rest of our lives. Although she was gone to a better place now, we will have memories that will be cherished forever. It goes without saying she will not be forgotten, after all who could forget her booming laugh and pink bonce!
We love you Mum.
Bury Hospice provided outstanding care to both my Mum and our family. This did not go unnoticed by my Mum. Therefore (as per Mum’s request) we have provided a link to Bury Hospice below if anyone wishes to make a donation in lieu of flowers. We have requested that only family flowers are to be at the funeral, Thank you.
The dress code is colourful as Mum hated anyone in Black and would want us to celebrate her life in this way.
All are welcome to both the funeral and the wake.

Maria, since hearing the news of your sad passing, my thoughts and prayers with all those who loved you most. There aren't enough words to do you justice. Your laughter and mischief always expected and very happily dispensed. Simply the best, with the biggest heart. Love & prayers for your family and your very good colleagues and friends at North. Am certain we will hear your laughter again from time to time, just when needed most. Rest easy brave girl.

Maria- kind, funny, loving, smiling, giving, happy, sharing, working hard, living large but most of all- Maria❤️ Rest In Peace Maria you deserve no less xxxxxxxxxxxxx
Maria you made us all laugh so much - sometimes my face hurt ! I often laughed all the way home and even in the middle of the night about your zany antics and jokes. You had such a quick wit and were the queen of office banter. Rest peacefully dear Scary - although I'm sure wherever you are you're making them all laugh and asking for home baking. I loved working with you all those years. Miss you.

“I’m not being funny but”
Did you know Maria O’Hare
She’s the one in the corner
With her pink or was it blue hair
She was so full of fun and often she cursed
But the best memory of Maria
She was the most fabulous nurse
As colleagues and friends we are sad now she’s gone
Coz Maria was the life and soul of Hexagon
But now up in heaven for all to see
She’s drinking her favourite
A cup of English Tea
RIP Maria our lovely friend xx
What can you say about Maria She was a larger than life character and I thank the English Lord that I knew her. She was the funniest person I’ve ever met, a natural comedian. She was a fabulous nurse but would have been an equally great detective, she could get information on anybody or anything, CID’s loss was our gain. I will never forget Maria and her crazy ways and the world is a duller place without her. Sincere condolences to Nic, Ruby and Pat. RIP Maria, a truly unique person who I will miss enormously, thank you for being you, love Maccy D xxx

Scary O'Hare.......for some reason we all called each other by our surnames. Although Scary changed mine to Ann Marie Double G.
That poor chap on the help desk when Maria would phone ask if he knew who sang the song from an advert on the TV the night before.
Another fun-phone call would be to ask the automatic telephone exchange for made up Drs names. So one day she might ask for a Dr umbadologochewatominop........low and behold there was one. And would you believe There was never Dr Spaghetti Bolognaise.
As for just standing up at her desk belting out a line only a Maria could sing......"the hills are alive.....with the sound of music".
Eating your lunch before you even got to work. Then seeing what everyone else had that you could try.
You're desk could have been donated to scientific research....perhaps a new antibiotic was being grown in them mounds mugs and bowls.
Couldn't go to South Manchester or Salford because she didn't have a passport or her vaccinations.
Biggest fan of Basil Brush.
An even bigger fan of David Cassidy.
Best dressed member of the team. She put a lot of effort into looking stylish.....attention to detail.
And in my English life Maria was the best online shopper I have ever met.
One big hearted woman. A huge character. Loved nothing more than her family.
The world is a sadder place without Maria. But no way anyone who ever met her will forget her.
X
You were a woman who only wanted to make peoples lives better which you did many times. I will never forget the gregarious funny friend with the bright pink or bright blue hair that could make a dull day full of fun. Wherever you are now behave yourself, no that would be too much to ask. I will think of you often as will many others. RIP Maria xxx

Well how can anybody say adequate words to do justice to such a wonderful lady and special friend. My life and that of so many others has been and will continue to be enhanced just by knowing her. From the first day I met Maria at work I knew this was one unique person. She made me laugh through some of my darkest days. Her sense of humour was so natural, it was no effort, it was Maria. A day at work without Maria was so dull. I used to feel so deflated when she was on annual leave the whole work place was different.
Yet apart from this bubbly, mischievous, bold , extravert lady Maria was so thoughtful, caring, loving and perceptive. She was a person you could confide in and you knew she truly cared. I saw her in action helping patients and she just knew instinctively how to help them and they had so much respect for her and trusted her implicitly.
I was so honoured when she came to my surprise 50th birthday party even though she had no visa for South Manchester!
I couldn’t believe it when I walked into the room and there she was smiling with excitement and genuine joy.
Maria’s humour was all encompassing, whether you be a stranger, a friend, whatever occupation. She would often have the Consultants laughing so much.
Maria gave so much to so many people.
The world is a far poorer place without her.
She bore her illness with such bravery and even when unwell still thought of others and their situations.
Maria was blessed with a wonderful husband and daughter and I know she will live on in their hearts and will never be far from them. Nick and Ruby you were so wonderful with Maria and she truly knows how much you both love her.
Maria I will miss you so much. You lit up the room with your big heart. Thank you for being such a wonderful person and a great friend. Xxxxx
