Kenneth or Ken, dad, grandad, teacher, friend, reader, fisher and more. Illness aside, life was pretty much how he wanted it to be in recent years. He was happy with his family and friends, loved his outings and weeks in the sun. He passed his love of reading on to his children Richard and Sally; and took joy in watching his grandchildren grow and develop. Although he died a little before he expected, it was in the sunshine, with family round him, following a few weeks of uninterrupted care and time with his children. We are not so much saying goodbye, as setting him free. Dad cared deeply about children and young people, and helping them build happy and capable lives in the face of adversity. For this reason we are inviting donations rather than flowers, to two charities working in Bolton, the NW and beyond.

Rathbone helps young adults with tricky lives grasp more opportunities for a positive future. Based in Manchester now, and Bolton not so long ago, they support exactly the kinds of young people dad cared especially about.

Beanstalk is a charity matching volunteers with young children to help build reading skills. Precious little made dad happier than children, books, children with books, and children's books! We know he'd like to help more of this work happen.

Feel free to donate online using the links shown, or see us at the cremation / wake and we can pass it onto the charities on your behalf. In 2015 Sally recorded dad talking about his memories of childhood. If you would like to listen to these, you can do so by
a) clicking on the 'links' tab and following the link there or
b) copying this link and pasting it into the search bar of your web browser
https://1drv.ms/f/s!ApG-6LlDO1wdkekuYEtMYyCdarRATg Thank you.
Sally & Richard
