Ernest passed away peacefully at Alexander care home aged 94. Dearly loved husband of the late Mary, much loved dad of Sheila and Barbara, a dear father in law of Brian and Dennis and a loving grandad to Catherine and Helen.
Ernest was in the RAF during the Second World War, then later worked for Bibby and Baron for 40 years. He served as a magistrate for 20 years and was a lifelong member of St Pauls church.
Ernest was a wonderful dad and grandad. He was a kind, gentle, patient man with a great sense of humour. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten.

Ernest will be greatly missed by us. When Clive was priest in charge of St Paul's, Bury, Ernest and Mary were members of our congregation. Ernest became our treasurer and fulfilled his responsibilities with efficiency and conscientiousness throughout. A consistent temperament, a dry sense of humour, a dear friend to the end. He meant all of that and more besides!
