Irene (known to her family and friends as Rene) was born in Brighton on the 2nd March 1941 where she lived until the tender age of 16. Swept off her feet by a tall dark handsome sailor, our dad Robert Greenhalgh, Irene moved North to start her new life and family.
Mother to Five children, four boys and one girl, Irene was in later life blessed with numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren who she loved dearly and took a lot of pleasure in.
Irene worked in many different places, but her love and passion was always in caring for others and she loved her job as a support worker for adults with learning difficulties not retiring until in her 70's.
Irene throughout her life always had a goal to reach, whether it be her next holiday, cruise or life event... she had a positivity and a strength of spirit within her that was unwavering.
One of the strongest people .... sadly Irene lost her fight on 3rd March 2019, aged just 78 years young. Her final days were as she had wished in her home, surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
We will all have our own special memories of Irene, whether its as our mother, grandma, great grandma or friend, but one thing that we will all most likely agree on is that Irene was indeed 'one in a million'......
Please take time to write on mum's memorial page..... remember though in your head if she catches you crying, your more than likely to hear her telling you to 'put your face straight' ......
PLEASE NOTE MUM REQUESTED NOT TO HAVE ANY FLOWERS AS SHE WISHED DONATIONS TO GO TO THE CECELIA CENTRE AT WYTHENSHAWE HOSPITAL. IF YOU WISH TO MAKE A DONATION PLEASE PASS THIS TO THE UNDERTAKERS. THANK YOU.

This day 11 years ago was your birthday and the day you allowed me to get married. It is a date and time forever etched into my heart and soul. Whilst I think of you daily and seek your guidance I do so so much more on your special days. I love and miss you more than anything but I know in spirit you are always there. Like Roy says you are our strength the most beautiful soul on earth and now in heaven we are proud and thankful to have you as our mum xxx happy birthday 🎂
5 years have passed since we lost our rock, family glue, mum and friend. Memories still strong and daily thinking of you and dad; its no longer hard thinking of our loss, because we know you are always a thought way, a quiet moment of reflection and your wise words. When time are hard I think of you, in those low moments I remember your strength, when as a family we stand together we are strong. with a tear in my eye, I thank you for your love and support.

For a moment 4 years ago our hearts were broken, but then quickly did you appear and wipe away those fears of loss and sadness, reminding us of what an exceptional person you are as a mum and a friend, The loss was huge but our happy memories shine through and brighten the mood, as the day the month and the years pass by "we think of you and realise how lucky we are to have had the love, kindness, care of such a wonderful person; I (we) cherish the memories"

As always nice words and sentiment from Christine, A time of year when you really do miss those who you can talk to candidly and know you will get honest and no nonsense response. those low's and highs are brought into perspective when you take a moment to stop and think of those we've lost and loved. but like Christine holding on to those memories and such special times are important and comforting. Missing you both

Thinking of you both on this your anniversary, always in it for the long term no matter what the challenges were; and, fulfilling your wedding vow TDDUP. We miss you both, especially in this current month and time, when mum sadly relented to the cancer and passed a day after her 78th birthday.. Your guidance and values shared are/have been very useful and appreciated. wherever you are what ever you are both doing, keep smiling down on us and reminding us of the love and care we should share. Love Roy & Carol.
Morning, I know its a little past Christmas Day to wish you a happy Christmas wherever you are and for whatever you are doing amongst the stars; but hope you had a good one. Lets hope 2022 is better than it has been in the last year. No point in saying how much we mis you and how I could do with your stern words of wisdom right now; but not to be so I'll use your warmth and guiding star to figure things out. miss you
