Husband to Carol, Pa to Chris & Laura, father-in-law, son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, friend and colleague
Michael (Taff to so many of you) died peacefully at home after suffering with Cancer for 12 months.
In lieu of flowers, if you would like, the family are requesting donations to The Christie, where Mike was treated. If we can help just one other person overcome this disease...
Due to Covid, numbers are restricted to 30 inside the church. Some of those wishing to pay their respects are going to line the route to church, with an official Guard of Honour from HMP Service. We are sad that not everyone will be able to join us in church for the service, but you are more than welcome to join those lining the route, should you wish to do so. We are also hoping to stream the service so people can follow remotely.
There aren't the words to convey how special, kind and loving Mike was, but we each feel it through having known him. A man of few words, a cliche paragraph doesn't seem fitting, but Mike was fond of seeking and appreciating the 'as good as it gets' moments in life - so go do that in memory of him.

Heartfelt love and sympathy from Anne and me to Carol and family on the loss of Mike. I didn't get to know him well as our paths didn't cross very much in the time he was with us at Christ Church.
But I shall always remember and cherish his address to the men's group on his prison work. His love, faith, example and commitment to people and public service came across so clearly and simply shone out. He must have been a fine soldier and leader of men.
May he rest in peace and rise in glory.
So many positive memories of Mike ...
We will always remember his quiet strength and determination ...and his protective support for you, Carol. Your obvious love for each other shone through at all times,
Your special 30th wedding anniversary hug in church when you announced how lucky you were that you had been married to the most wonderful and gorgeous man ...and then marched up to Mike and gave him a big kiss .
Mikes fabulous sense of humour... and when you told amusing tales from home, Mike would then give a wry smile and say: Welcome to my world ... !! We will all miss him.
Love and blessings to you

My deepest sympathies to Mick's family. He was a lovely man and a pleasure to work with. I remember dearly the help he gave me on many occasions. Such a sad loss.
In Memory of Micheal Hayden.
May his passing still bright hope and light to other families in the work The Christie can do with this and all the other donations they receive. Thank you.
My condolences to mrs Hayden Children and family.
I have been a part-time chaplain at Buckley Hall for 17 years
I always found Mick approchable and thorough in the his work as an senior officer.
He would tell you if something was wrong; as on the day the baptismal tank leaked all over the chapel.
The Call was "Corke, get down to the chapel immediately!" But after scolding me, He then helped me soak up the overflow and no pernamanet damage was done.
HE HAS BEEN GREATLY MISSED at BH.
Our prayers and thoughts are with you at this time.
IN HIS GRIP
