Max, a truly lovely Dad, Grandpa and Great Grandpa and friend to many
Died peacefully in his happy room at Hollybank Care Home with staff who loved and cared for him.
A gentle, wise man who was interested In people of all ages, faiths and backgrounds. He cared very deeply for his family. He was interested in a wide variety of things and loved going to the ballet, gardening and eating puddings.
He maintained a strong Christian faith to the very end.
"Don't forget about passing a smile on!"

Max will always have a special place in our hearts as a good friend to Eddy especially during his darkest times. I will never forget his gentle ways & encouraging words & of course his Pass on a Smile poem which is up in every classroom at Greenmount Primary thanks to Max. God bless you Max, forever with your Lord & Saviour xx
It was a pleasure to get to know Max. I appreciated his support, encouragement, prayers and interest in all I was doing. A Man of God who 'finished the race and kept the faith'.
What a privilege it was to know this kind and funny and wise and brave family and God loving man. We have so many brilliant memories of times spent in friendship which we will cherish. God Bless
