I have very happy memories of John Wynne (as we knew him) in the Surrey students bar holding court singing Oh Lily. He was always the life and soul of the party. Thinking of you all at this very sad time. Best wishes Richard - class of 83
If you were ever miserable in John's company it was your own damn fault!
I am so glad we met again at the Weston's Wedding just recently. He was just a great person to be around!
With Deepest Condolences and Sympathies to his Family
Such a tragic loss. Spent a few great nights out together. True gentleman and great fun always.
RIP John Wynne.......
Over the past 30 years or so I have known John as colleague, a boss, a team mate but mostly as a friend he was great at each of those things and will be sadly missed.
Deepest sympathies to John's family and friends. What a tragic and untimely loss. My memories of John's post-match entertainment at Surrey Uni will never fade. He certainly helped make my times at Surrey Uni some of the happiest of my life. Sorry can't make it today but hope he has a great send off (which I am sure he will)...
Condolences to Rachel and family. We met just the once at a party at Smiler & Alison's a few years back. I have very fond memories of JWW, as I knew him, especially leading us in song. Particularly Oh Lily - Dickie, Dickie, Dombie, O Bulawey, Bulawo, Bulawey. It is still fixed in my mind after nearly forty years but I still don't know what the song was about...
So very sad!
Very, very sad to hear of Johns death. A really great person to have been a friend of at Surrey. Condolences to all of Johns family and friends.
An SURFC legend who kept spirits up after my leg was broken in the Freshers' Trial, with free beer at the Sports Hall bar and many games of "pass the peanuts"....numerous clear and fond memories of a great man.

Sad, sad news. Im sure that to everyone in the class of 86, John was larger than life to us younguns. My lasting memory of John will always be his speech to us on life, the universe and everything in Jersey while dressed in an undersized cowboy outfit and the smallest of cowboy hats on that oversized Ynywbwll head. Like the many Surrey legends before him who are no longer with us , John lived many more lives in a shorter space of time than most of us mere mortals will ever achieve. Feel blessed to have been part of a small part of his tale.
Andy McInness - class of 86

Well said Andy!
A legend and a lovely man
Never ever had a bad time with John!
Very sad.
Gordon Clarkson - class of 86

My lasting memory is of John on the backseat of the coach to sway matches eating his jar of pickled onions. He swore on the power of that first scrum and his deep onion burp for the opposition front row
Nigel Hemmington - classes of 79 & 84

Tragic that the life of such a likeable man should be cut short. Like many front rowers he had a massive character. Very sad news, condolences to all his family, praying for strength and support in this difficult times. I hope the good memories will keep him in all our minds.
Oliver Trevelyan - class of 83

Very very sad and condolences and thoughts for his family. As others have said, there was never a quiet moment with John and he provided many great memories of our time at Surrey.
Dave Capstick - class of 86
