Rest in Peace.
Always a tremendous inspiration to all of us in Neuro Voices in how to cope with MS and how best to push it aside. He rarely let anyone get away with less than 120% effort in hydro, but in his own uniquely authoritative style. Rest in peace Peter, and to the much loved ones he left behind, may he continue to guide and inspire you. Thank you for sharing Peter with us for a whil
I first met Pete when he played football at the Park Hotel with my Dad, later on played with him at Salford Teachers, he then was a regular referee at 6 a side matches. A true gent who went out of his way to pick me up and get me home after matches.
My darling Peter, youve left the biggest hole in my heart that will never be filled. Im truly heartbroken and will miss you until my dying day. Im so thankful we found one another and gave each other the love we both needed and deserved. We both found the true meaning of love. I never imagined that last day when we said I love you to one another and I kissed you that it would be our last. You were the best husband I could ever wish for and the love you gave me will live in my heart and mind forever. I shall cherish all the wonderful memories we shared. Rest In Peace my kind, generous and very special man x
With deep regret at the passing of Peter, a member of the Bolton & District Group of the MS Society. . A good and helpful member of the group who will be sadly missed.
You will be dearly missed Uncle Pete, you were loved by so many. Sending all my love and prayers. God bless
Loving Husband, Dad, Grandad, Friend, you can take your place with the angels today, smiling down and watching over your family from above, knowing that you did such a wonderful job when you were with them that you will be in their hearts and minds everyday forever.️
Later this morning I say see you later Pete to one of lifes true gentleman for the last time.
I cannot sum up what an impact you have had on my life but for 25 years you have always been there for me, Gemma and more recently your grandchildren no matter what- Mr reliable / Our Grandad.
From taxi driver for airport runs, school pick ups, after school sports, tyre changes, early Saturday morning games when Id been out the night before and Gemma wouldnt let me drive, to teacher and mentor to us all, making sure the kids read their school books, working out how to do their English and Maths, making sure they watched The Chase & finally doing what you did best, refereeing to make sure they didnt kill each other in their arguments.
I look around our house now and see all the things you helped me with, teaching me how to do DIY or at least muddling through it together.
I am going to miss your presence and chats so much, especially times when I am sat on the couch watching the football on sky, making the sausage butties or the cup of coffee with one sugar but saying that I will always be thankful we got to share some fantastic memories, especially at the all day football tournaments and cricket days ( some very long but you would still never take a seat ).
You were always there for your grandchildren and both me and Gemma can never thank you enough for that, I know they make you proud and will continue to do so.
The other tributes we have read over the last few days have given us so much comfort that you were a great influence in so many other peoples lives - I dont know where you found the time. Rest in peace and thank you for teaching me so much.
P.s I would like to apologise for smashing your bathroom window 25 years ago - I think it broke the ice between us and we have been true friends and family ever since .
Life will never be the same again but you will have all my love and respect forever ..
Rest in Peace Pete.

So in my childhood days, it was Jean, my mum and Margaret Highs mum that followed us girls playing netball. Peter, like so many dads, was working for his family so the women did the kids stuff! In the last 12 months, Sadie and my Hannah joined the same football team and I got the chance to get to know Peter, because week in, week out, he showed up to support them. He was what youd call a gentleman. The nicest guy, and clearly very proud of his family. I loved getting to know him better, enjoyed a banter with him, and listened while he told me what the ref of whatever game was being being played, was doing wrong. I loved it! I loved chatting to him, and Ill definitely miss that when we start up again. Gemma - youre amongst my oldest and dearest friends. My heart breaks for all of you but I hope you all take some comfort from these message. RIP Mr S! Referee from heaven and keep some order! ️
I am glad to have met Pete on a number of occasions and enjoyed his company very much. A lovely man who will be sorely missed by anyone who knew him R.I.P
